The Merles @ Giddy Ups (01/29/2011)

Stopped in at Giddy Ups to hear The Merles on the way home from The Painted Horse Pavilion.  So glad we did!  It’s no secret that we love all kinds of music, but that “traditional” country music is our favorite.  No, that doesn’t necessarily mean “old” country…..there’s a lot of “tradition” in some of the new music!  And, hearing these young people proves that the tradition is going to stay…..no matter what the record companies think.  🙂   Just checked their schedule and they’ll be back at Giddy Ups on the 26th of February.  Don’t know if we’re going to be able to make it, but hope you will.  We think you’ll really enjoy the music they play and the fun they have on stage!

Sam Bentley @ Painted Horse (01/29/2011)

It’s rodeo time in Texas with the San Antonio Stock Show starting in a few days.  Every year since 1983, GRA Trailriders have made the trek to the show the old-fashioned way…..on horses.  Well, okay, now they might have some campers and trucks to haul equipment, but the people arrive on horseback.  😉  The start is in Kyle and was kicked off at the Painted Horse Pavilion with a BBQ and dance.  Now, just to make sure there was a “party”, the dance was opened to the public, and the “public” took advantage of the opportunity.

Ted Roddy @ Giddy Ups (01/22/2011)

We’d seen Ted get on stage several times with some of other bands, but never seen his full show.  So, when we found out he and The Hit Kickers were going to be at Giddy Ups, we decided we needed to be there, too.  These guys…..and gal…..put on a heck of show that kept us dancing and singing all night.  Looking forward to seeing them again!
